Spot the Witch
We didn't grow this pumpkin, so putting it on the garden photographs page did not feel right.
As is our Halloween tradition, we put the Alice Cooper mix on the cd player, drew a crappy design on a hapless gourd, then got down to business with two kitchen knives and a small metal measuring cup. The measuring cup is the best tool we've found for scraping the pumpkin's interior clean. A heavy serrated knife is used to cut the lid; a serrated paring-size knife is used to cut the designs.
As usual, the finished product looks nothing like the initial design. There have been a few years where we got a little carried away with the carving and ended up with crap. This was not one of them. We thought the result a little abstract (Picasso pumpkin, anyone?) until we spotted the entirely accidental witch.
Wicked!

It seems I might've arrived late for this party. Great shots!
